Zoo Köln & Rheinseilbahn

Our main reason to visit the city of Köln was for the well known zoo, but because it was quite nearby we went on the Rheinseilbahn (Cologne cable car) prior to our zoo visit

According to Wikipedia, the cable car over the Rhine was opened on April 26, 1957 in time for the opening of the biannual German horticultural show, the Bundesgartenschau. It is considered to be Cologne's safest means of transport. The cable car connects the Rheinpark and the zoo. Well, it's fun to do and on the other side of the track we had a nice stroll through the large park.

Although the zoo is located near the city centre, it is a nice park on a good location. It features over 7,000 animals of more than 700 species, so there is a lot to see! Here are a few snapshots:
